United States.  After watching me admire the artwork and engaging in a little small talk, he took his final approach.  He repeated his name, Luca, smiled, then handed me a small piece of paper with his name and phone number. 

Stephanie laughed and teasingly asked if I would call him later.  I replied, “Not a chance and not even a consideration Stephanie- even if he were a good looking Luca.”   I knew she wasn’t serious.  Hm, that was the beginning of our game.  My single sister Stephanie immediately asked if we might find a better looking Luca in Italy.  This was the beginning of our “Looking for Luca” game in Ancient Rome, Italy. 

The first Luca, Stephanie spotted entering a restaurant.  She told me that I should take a photo of him.  She called him over with a gesture of her finger.  He walked up to her, she

gave him a sweet smile and said to him, “smile”.  I snapped the camera.  We laughed, he laughed, my Dad grinned and shook his head. That was Luca #1.

We’re sisters and we can be silly.  Silly in Rome.  You would think the amazing historical sites would be what caught our eye and yes they did but after we began our hunt for Luca’s we turned our focus to the Italian men.  Immature, but FUN.

We began taking photo’s by permission but quickly discovered that would take too much time.  The Italian men were so shy when we  asked them to pose without us. 

Our paparazzi shots were taken through windows of cafes- that felt weird.

 Our photo’s snapshot technique then changed to taking random shots of ”Wanna Be Luca’s”  on the streets.  It was difficult because our cameras are digital and the delay snap shot resulted in side face shots of most.  AND, so many potential Luca’s  have a woman hooked on their arms.  Not a problem.  We soon decided it didn’t matter one had a lady with him because we’d crop her out in Photo-shop.  Ha! 

We tried not to be too obvious about taking photo’s of these Luca’s in Italy.  Our next trick we changed our game shot to “Luca at 9:00″.  Cool, so Stephanie would call the direction of the potential Luca, I’d quickly turn the camera that direction and SNAP.  We’d laugh; Dad would shake his head at us.  We had some Luca’s that caught us snapping their photo- a little embarrassing but really not so bad enough to stop.   

We then developed the “I’ll point above Luca”  trick to make it look like we were not aiming the camera at them.  Now the heads-up was, “Luca 9:00″ then Steph would point above the Luca and I’d aim the camera above the Italian Luca potential at first- then immediately drop it down and take the shot.  Sneaky yet effective. :)

 

 

The “Dad set-up Luca” involved tricking our Dad.  ”Dad I think that couple would like someone to take their photo, could you please help them”.  He’s so nice, he offered, and without knowledge set-up our Luca posed.  Ha, ha.  We thank you Daddy!
